Essay

The dissertation deals with the problem of development of psychological culture of future officers. It has been revealed that psychological culture of the future officer is a complex social and psychological phenomenon, which harmoniously combines, on the one hand, the way of the cadet’s reality appreciation (expresses his life determinants, needs, interests, etc.), and on the other hand, awareness of his emotional and volitional state, cognitive sphere and ability to self-analyse his personal and behavioural features. It also determines his professional growth by enhancing his psychological education with the simultaneous skills acquisition of its effective use in professional activity. The essence of psychological culture of the future officer is a harmonious combination of psychological education (knowledge, skills, self-regulation, techniques, etc.) and relevant personal qualities that influence the implementation of professional activity effectively. The structure of the future officer’s psychological culture contains motivational, value and content, cognitive, regulatory, communicative and reflective components. Psychological literacy (basic level) and psychological competence have been determined as the levels of the psychological culture. They are the basis for the future officer’s mature psychological culture formation. Using correlation analysis, the main external and internal factors of the future officer’s psychological culture have been identified. Structural and functional model and program of the future officers’ psychological culture development have been developed. It has been proved that to increase the level of the future officers’ psychological culture development it is necessary to focus on improving the levels of communication skills development that facilitate effective interaction with other people; the ability formation to self-regulate own mental states, introspection of personal and behavioural characteristics, self-organization and self-improvement in professional activity, as well as psychological literacy of the future officers by increasing the scope of psychological knowledge, obtaining new psychological skills, new competencies, etc.
