Essay

The dissertation contains a new approach of the morbid obesity treatment by applying laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass. The results of surgical treatment of 87 patients with morbid obesity with concomitant metabolic disorders who underwent laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass were studied using generally accepted indications and contraindications for bariatric surgery. An algorithm has been developed for preoperative preparation and postoperative management of patients, a technique for performing laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass. It was established that the use of laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass in comparison with gastric bypass leads to an increase in body weight loss of 1,1 times, complete remission of type 2 diabetes mellitus by 1,3 times, correction of dyslipidemia by 3 times, reduces postoperative hospital stay 2,5 times, more significantly improves the quality of life after surgery and minimizes the incidence of incisional hernias. However, an increase of the biliopancreatic limb can lead to an increased risk of micronutrient deficiencies such as iron and calcium.
