Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the syntactic level of the Eastern Podillia dialects to identify its specific features and to clarify the factors of the variation of syntactic units in the studied dialects. In the course of the work it has become evident that in recent decades of the development of the Ukrainian dialectology the research of many linguistic phenomena of different dialectal arrays has paid little attention to the syntactic level, although its study has had a long history. The need to examine the Eastern Podillia dialects at different structural levels in general and at the syntactic one in particular, the lack of a special study of the syntactic features of the Eastern Podillia dialects determined the relevance of the research work. The dissertation studies the current conditions of the theoretical echievements in the sphere of the dialect syntax. The syntactic level of the Eastern Podillia dialects is analyzed to identify its specific features; the factors of the syntax variation in the studied dialects are outlined; the specific features of the word combinations with prepositional and prepositional-case inversions, their structural-semantic fillings are revealed; the specific features of the syntax of simple and complex sentences are described too. The following algorithm of studying the syntactic level of the dialects of the Eastern Podillia has been developed in the work: the maximum fixation of the dialect and its expression with the help of the transcribed texts; the interpretation of the syntactic units through texts; the study of syntactic parallels with other dialects, where it is possible; historical comments on some individual syntactic phenomena. The specificity of word combinations in the dialects of the Eastern Podolia is analyzed, the structural-semantic features of case and preposition-case word-forms are characterized, repetitions and variability of prepositions are described. The dialectal features of simple uncomplicated and complicated sentences is determined; the peculiarities of the expression of the main members of the sentence are clarified; the ways of complicating of the simple sentences are characterized, the structural features of compound and complex sentences are determined.
