Biba Y. Execution of punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty in Ukraine (end of XX – beginning of XXI century): historical and legal research

The dissertation examined the state of scientific study of the topic, the source base and methodology of the study of the problem of the execution of punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty in Ukraine (the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century). It has been proved that the reform of the domestic system of sentences execution in the form of liberty deprivation provides for two main stages of the development of the historiography of the problem: the first – the Soviet period (1970–1990) the second – the post-Soviet period (1991 – present). The proposed periodization of historiography comes out of the conditional classification of scientific historical literature, monographic research, legislative changes, their conceptual orientation, the degree of disclosure of deep problems regarding the punishment execution in the form of liberty deprivation.
