Essay

The thesis is the first conceptually holistic, systematic study of the interlevel category of appeal in the newest Ukrainian linguistic, which is analyzed in view of the unity and priority of semantic motivation and extrinsic expression, represented by primary and secondary means of explication as well as cognitive-communicative and pragmatic aspects, which made its study more comprehensive. The involvement of factual material – the Akathists of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine as one of the types of liturgical songs, the problem of grammatical organization of which has not yet been raised in Ukrainian linguistics, allowed to study the functional potential of appeals in a particular speech situation and to identify their qualifying parameters. In the thesis it is noted that the appeal belongs to a special place in the grammatical system of the Ukrainian language, as it finds expression at the semantic, morphological and syntactic levels of language. The description of the appeal with emphasis on its generalized abstract content made it possible to clarify and characterize the structure of the analyzed categorical value, in particular to distinguish the following grammatical meanings: 1) the addressee of the speech – the implementer of explicit will, 2) the recipient of the information, 3) the identifier, 4) the addressee of the speech – the implementer of implicit will. The thesis identifies the means of marking each grammeme, focusing on the purpose and frequency of their use.
