Zarinova M. Lexical Variants in the Ukrainian Language Standard in Early 19th – Late 20th Centuries.

The paper comprehensively investigates the lexical variants extant in prose texts and lexicographic sources of the late 19th – early 20th centuries for the first time. It defines the criteria for the lexical variants’ identification; elaborates its structural classification. The author has explored the trends in the development of the native and foreign vocabularies in the history of the Ukrainian language. The practical value of the work consists in its ability to be used in History of Ukrainian Standard Language, History of Ukrainian language, Modern Ukrainian Standard Language ("Lexicology"), Stylistics courses, as well as specialized courses in Orthology, Etymology, Lexicography; for writing textbooks, teaching manuals.
