Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of professional reflection as future psychologists’ self-development mechanism. The psychological sense and the essence of the notions «future psychologists’ self-development» and «future psychologists’ professional reflection» were defined; the structural components in professional reflection were distinguished – cognitive informational, motivational value-based and regulative behavioural ones; its psychological model was built; the psychological peculiarities of future psychologists’ professional reflection and self-development was empirically studied; the criteria of professional reflection and self-development as well as qualitative and quantitative characteristics and development levels of the studied phenomena were revealed; the connection between self-development and professional reflection was proved together with the influence the reflection has on future psychologists’ self-development; the thesis developed, tested and proved the effectiveness of the developmental programme and social psychological training for improving the potential of professional reflection as future psychologists’ self-development mechanism; the methodological recommendations concerning the improvement in the developmental potential of the psychological notion under consideration for professors, academic advisors and university psychologists were developed.
