Brych M. Architectural and spatial organization of open-air museums in Ukraine

The thesis aims to define modern principles, methods, and means of the architectural and spatial organization of the open-air museum’s environment, which should be used in Ukraine. The study, based on the analysis of the nascence and development process of this type of museum, traces the evolution of methods of their creation. Using the comparison and systematization of modern open-air museum features in Ukraine and the world, positive trends that should be applied in the museum practice of our country are highlighted. For improving the legislative framework of the studied area, the author develops an expanded terminology system. To preserve and to use modern monuments of architecture, urban planning, archeology, and history, recommendations on the proposed approaches of the architectural and spatial organization of the open-air museums’ implementation in Ukraine are formulated.
