The dissertation is a comprehensive study of the constitutional and legal regulation of the right to property in Ukraine and in the EU countries. It offers the definitions of the notions «right to property», «restriction on the right to property» and «guarantees of the right to property». The dissertation explores doctrinal sources of the constitutional right to property as well as outlines a range of statutory instruments that regulate this right in Ukraine and in some EU countries. Based on the peculiar aspects of regulating the right to property, it is suggested that three groups of Constitutions of the EU countries should be distinguished. The author identifies and describes the major historic periods of the constitutional and legal regulation of the right to property in Poland and in Latvia against the background of the evolution of the constitutional and legal regulation of the right to property in Ukraine.
