Essay

The object of the present study are the texts of Fathers of the Church, representers of Greek-speaking patristics from the fourth to sixth centuries, and their philosophical visions. The subject-matter of this study is religio-philosophical intuition in philosophico-theological discourses of Greek-speaking patristics of the fourth – sixth centuries. The methodological foundation of the present dissertation study is general historico-philosophical analysis of sources as well as the historico-philosophical hermeneutics that serve the conceptual base for the rest of more specific methodological procedures. Thus, the enfolding logic of the present study is a transition from the general historico-philosophical context to a more detailed one: the period of Greek-speaking Patristics 4th – 6th centuries, within the framework of which the place and significance of the phenomenon of intuition in the history of philosophy is treated as much as its religious connotations. Using the constructive method, in a general sense of this term, it is carried out an immediate constructing of the notions of the theory, which is structured by interconnections, when in course of content reflection activities one predicates come from the others. On its part it helps modelling a consistent structure of ontologico-gnoseological and soteriological visions of Church Fathers of the 4th – 6th centuries, tracing and defining general and essential features of the notion of religio-philosophical intuition within the framework of this historico-philosophical period. The study clarifies the historical and theoretical background and immediate premises of the notion of religio-philosophical intuition within the framework of the Greek-speaking patristics of the 4th-6th centuries. In particular it focuses on: a) characteristics of relationships between philosophy and theology; b) the main trends in Greek-speaking patristic discourse; c) socio-political and spirituo-practical factors that stimulated the development of theological thought, and played the key-role in becoming of the fundamental statements of Christian doctrine, such as the Trinitarian doctrine, Christology, and soteriology (the doctrine of salvation). In order to specify the subject-matter of this study, as well as for its correct understanding, I use linguistic text analysis to define linguistic and conceptual components of the term “intuition”. Sphere is the educational process.
