Novikova J. Psychological peculiarities of emotional-volitional regulation of the older people

There defined theoretical approaches to the study of the problem, the essence of the concept of "emotional-volitional regulation of the elderly", components of emotional-volitional regulation (emotions, volitional regulation, the experience of emotional volitional regulation), criteria (stability of the emotional sphere, a high level of volitional regulation development, development of the positive experience of emotional-volitional regulation) and forms (mechanisms of psychological defense, coping strategies, resilience) of emotional-volitional regulation of the elderly the dissertation. There empirically revealed the features of individual psychological traits of the elderly, manifestations of the emotional component, forms, levels of development, and differences depending on the place of residence (at home, boarding school) of elderly people. There proved predominance of low and medium levels of development of emotional-volitional regulation in the elderly. There created the typology of elderly people according to the ways of using the mechanisms of emotional-volitional regulation (active-regulatory, adaptive-regulatory, passive-regulatory, destructive-regulatory type). A model has been created, reasonably, developed, and tested by the author's program for the development of emotional-volitional regulation, proved its effectiveness, and the feasibility of its implementation in the work of psychologists of boarding schools for the elderly.
