Essay

Researching is devoted to a study of the specifics of the piano component in the concert life of Kyiv in the 70–80s of the 19 century, outlines the nature of its presence in the urban environment, public perception by critics and listeners is determined. The piano performance in the context of the musical infrastructure of the city is considered. As a result of generalization of newspaper materials, attempted was made to typology of piano concerts actual to the 70–80s of the 19 century. The problem of the piano interpretation is covered on the basis of Kyiv periodicals from the position of the “composer-performer-listener” triad. Special attention in the study is given to the personalities of pianists who formed the Kyiv performing school.
