Essay

The thesis is devoted to the development and scientific substantiation of the method for effective removal of arsenic compounds of different oxidation states and humates from natural waters. The thesis theoretically (on the basis of literature data and calculations) and experimentally (as a result of sorption research) substantiates the choice of iron compounds as the main sorbent component for the removal of arsenic compounds from the aqueous medium. A number of iron-containing sorption materials were synthesized by various methods (heterogeneous precipitation, homogeneous precipitation, hydrothermal method), including powder, granular on the basis of activated carbon and suspension sorbents. It was determined that the usаge of the combination "fine particle iron(III) oxyhydroxide/membrane" allows to remove arsenic compounds from model water and groundwater to sanitary requirements at initial concentrations of arsenic in the range of 500-16733 μg/l and to separate the spent fine iron-containing sorbent from water and prevents fouling formation on the membranes.
