Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the complex research of theoretical and legal problems of local self-government in the conditions of formation of civil society in Ukraine. The place and role of local self-government in the structure of modern civil society are analyzed. The basic principles and features of the functioning of civil society are determined. The following strategic directions for the development of local self-government in Ukraine in the context of European integration processes have been identified: conducting and completing the process of comprehensive and transparent constitutional reform, including decentralization of power, in accordance with the relevant recommendations of the Venice Commission; strengthening the functioning of local and regional self-government, the legal status of service in local self-government, including through decentralization, which will give them significant powers and provide adequate financial resources in accordance with the relevant standards contained in the European Charter of Local Self-Government.
