Malykhina O. The psychological conditions of self-esteem formation at students of higher educational establishments

The thesis is devoted to the theoretical and experimental researching the psychological conditions of self-esteem formation at students of higher educational establishments. There have been defined the essence of the notion “self-esteem at student age”; there have been highlighted the structural components of self-esteem at student age – cognitive, emotional and value, behavioral, their criteria and constructs. In the work there have been determined psychological conditions of self-esteem (awareness of self-image; adequate self-esteem; attitude to oneself as to another; estimation of own achievements by others; interaction with significant others; presence of positive motivation as for yourself; realization of self-confidence potential; need for success achievement) at students of establishments of higher education. There have been made the comparative analysis of peculiarities of becoming the structural components of self-esteem and there have been defined the levels of its development (high, middle, low). The author has substantiated the model, worked out and tested the psychological program of self-esteem formation at students of higher educational establishments. There have been proved the efficiency and expediency of introduction in the educational process of establishments of higher education.
