Essay

In the dissertation are investigated the dependence of the design characteristics of mesh phase separators, such as bubble point pressure and hydraulic pressure drop, depending on the angle of fiber weave of deformed mesh elements when a form of mesh elements cells changes from square to rhombic. Analytical dependences of the geometric characteristics of the deformed mesh element cell, and mathematical models of the formation and movement of the interface through the mesh of plain and twill types, taking into account the spatial structure of weaving, have been developed. It has been established and experimentally confirmed that when the mesh weaving structure is deformed, the capillary pore diameter decreases and its coefficient of hydraulic resistance increases, depending on the value of the fiber weaving angle. The dependence of the coefficient of hydraulic resistance of deformed mesh elements on the value of the fiber weaving angle, described by an empirical coefficient, which has the form of a polynomial function of the 3-rd degree, was experimentally found. On the basis of the obtained scientific results, engineering methods have been developed for calculating the parameters of the mesh phase separators of the engine starting systems in microgravity conditions in the tanks of spacecraft using, as the main working element, deformed mesh elements. Their use makes it possible to increase the bubble point pressure of the mesh phase separators and to reduce the hydraulic pressure drop in the fuel supply system and, thus, to reduce the mass of the entire spacecraft. The results of the dissertation work, namely, mathematical models, methods and recommendations, are used in the Yuzhnoye State Design Office, as well as in the educational process of the Oles Honchar Dnipro National University.
