The thesis is devoted to the research of subtericone wastewater from waste heaps of coal mines of Novovolynsk mining district, analysis of the system of measures to increase the ecological safety of the mining complex to the environment. Establishment of the levels of environmental hazard of wastewater from coal mine dumps, the study of the seasonal dynamics of heavy metals of wastewater from waste heaps, design and calculation of the bio-plateau enable the introduction of the latest forms of wastewater treatment from coal mine dumps and improve environmental safety. As a result of the conducted research of water samples, an increase in the content of ammonium salts was recorded. It is known that the main danger of pollution of the hydrosphere with ammonium salts is the super-saturation of water with ammonia. The content of ammonium salts above 0.1 mg / dm3 indicates freshwater pollution because ammonia is the first compound formed during the decomposition of organic nitrogen-containing substances. Simultaneous content of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, sulfates and bicarbonates in water samples indicates significant contamination of subtericone wastewater due to oxidation of the rock in the dump and its leaching by water. An increase in the content of nitrites and nitrates in water samples without the detection of ammonia indicates the isolation of the source of contamination. Analyzing the state of the ecological situation as a result of wastewater spillage from technological dumps of mines № 2, 4 and 9 of Novovolynsk mining district, it should be noted that currently, storm sewerage in the studied mines is absent, so rainwater from the surfaces of waste heaps and industrial sites runs spontaneously on the ground and concentrates in mineral salts. It is known that the mines of this area are characterized by significant inflows into the main and preparatory mine workings, so the effluents formed around the perimeter of the existing dumps are collected in drainage ditches. The causes and consequences of the growth of the level of ecological danger in mining complexes are identified; seasonal dynamics of the content of chemicals in subtericone wastewater from mine heaps is determined; content of heavy metals in wastewater and vegetation is identified; scientifically substantiated calculation of biological ponds for wastewater treatment and measures to overcome the negative impact of man-made wastewater pollution on biota are proposed; the analysis of the quality of water bodies of the studied region with the help of the GIS project "Open Environment", was carried out. The geoinformation interactive map is built on the basis of statistical data of the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine and data of satellite observations. Water quality indicators confirm the fact that along with wind erosion of waste heaps which were studied in a large number of scientific papers, the issue of water erosion of waste heaps which leads to leaching of toxic pollutants and soil and groundwater pollution is acute. Pollution spreads with subtericone waters over long distances in the surrounding areas, in particular to the surface waters of the Western Bug River basin.
