Essay

The dissertation work is devoted to the research concerning the problem to form the rhetorical competence among the future teachers of the Ukrainian language and literature in the process of studying the linguistic disciplines. In the thesis the following leading research definitions "rhetoric", "rhetorical activity", "rhetorical culture" are defined, the content of the concept "rhetorical competence of the future teacher of Ukrainian language and literature" is clarified, which is interpreted in the work as a dynamic personal education that combines the volume of rhetorical knowledge, ways of critical and creative thinking, a set of worldviews, personal values, eloquence skills, rhetorical skills, other personal qualities that determine the ability of future teachers of Ukrainian language and literature to successfully carry out professional activities aimed at the formation of knowledge, skills and abilities, development of intellectual and creative abilities, emotional-will and moral-ethical qualities of education applicants. The components of rhetorical competence are identified and the criteria of rhetorical competence formation with the corresponding indicators are developed: gnoseological (awareness of the essence of rhetorical competence; knowledge of language, speech, rhetorical means; understanding of the features concerning the application of rhetorical competence in future pedagogical activities); activity-corrective (ability to demonstrate rhetorical abilities; ability to persuade, influence others; the ability to use non-verbal means; ability to solve rhetorical situations in a constructive way; the ability to exercise self-control in communication; the ability to express and correct one' thoughts; the ability to communicate effectively; communicative skills in the process of the simulation of practice-oriented speech situations; the ability to textualization and test analysis); motivational-valuable (the need for rhetorical improvement; awareness of the need to develop rhetorical competence; understanding the needs and emotions of others). The criteria are represented by a system of appropriate indicators that reflect a specific feature of the researched object - the levels of rhetorical competence formation of future teachers of the Ukrainian language and literature: high, sufficient, average and elementary. The study is the first to develop a methodology of forming the rhetorical competence within the framework of the competence, communicative-activitistic, investigative, text-centered approaches for future teachers of the Ukrainian language and literature; it also proves the appropriateness of implementing methods, techniques, types and forms of work aimed at forming rhetorical competence; a system of exercises and tasks for the formation of rhetorical competence of future literary teachers is proposed, the effectiveness of experimental training is confirmed. The linguodidactic conditions for the formation of rhetorical competence of teacher-verbalists in institutions of higher education have been further developed.
