Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of psychological features of experiencing loneliness by adolescents studying in secondary schools; development of a program of socio-psychological training for adolescents experiencing loneliness and recommendations for the prevention of destructive manifestations of loneliness in adolescence. As a result of theoretical analysis of scientific approaches it was defined that: a) loneliness is a mental state of human, which involves a set of emotions and feelings; b) it has its own specific context, which is not identical to the concepts of «solitude» and «isolation. The theoretical analysis revealed the following main approaches to the interpretation of the experience of loneliness in adolescence: the experience of loneliness is a situational and superficial phenomenon; is a normal condition, can be difficult, but passes over time; is complex and painful and can lead to serious consequences (deep loneliness, addiction, suicide); accompanied by strong emotions and feelings and necessary for personal growth. Thus, the experience of loneliness in adolescence is typical and involves internal work on the cognitive and emotional levels, as well as affects behavior. At the same time, experiencing loneliness is an important experience for a teenager and necessary for his personal growth.
