The Thesis for the PhD degree in Engineering Science in the specialty of 21.06.01 - Environmental Safety. - Research Institution “Ukrainian Research Institute for Environmental Problems”, Kharkiv, 2021 The thesis is devoted to the solution of the scientific problem dealing with the upgrading of the monitoring system for hydroeconomic systems taking into21 consideration natural and anthropogenic effects on water resources and using the hydroeconomic stretch of the Udy River as an example. The research paper gives the analysis and summarization of the available approaches to the monitoring of surface waters and the methods used for the assessment and forecasting of the environmental state of water objects. The conceptual construct of hydroeconomic systems was studied and its position in the structure of the hydroeconomic zoning was identified. The main ecological problems relating to the organization of the monitoring of hydroeconomic systems have been specified. The physical-&-geographical and climatic conditions and the territorial peculiarities of the formation of the environmental state of water objects in the Kharkiv region have been investigated. The environmental state of water objects for the hydroeconomic stretch of the Udy River was assessed in terms of the integral estimate of the state of surface waters and ecological estimate of the quality of surface waters according to appropriate categories. The influence of natural and anthropogenic factors on the environmental state of water objects was investigated using the method of multivariate analysis. The environmental state of water objects was forecasted taking into consideration climatic changes and the effects of climatic conditions on the environmental state of water objects were specified for the hydroeconomic stretch of the Udy River. The monitoring of hydroeconomic systems was improved taking into consideration natural and anthropogenic effects and using hydrochemical, hydrobiological and hydromorphological indices. Key words: hydroeconomic systems, the Udy River, environmental safety, monitoring, anthropogenic effects, climatic conditions, environmental state, environmental risk, and the water quality forecast.
