Zadorozhnya I. Geographical vocabulary of the left-bank Middle Dnipro dialects: composition, variation of semantic structure.

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of nomination in the field of the dialectal geographical vocabulary of the left-bank Middle Dnipro dialects in the Cherkasy region. An important factor in the study of this thematic group is the direct connection of a relatively stable lexical system with geographical objects, which causes the necessity of the nomination processes formation through the prism of dialect speakers’ worldview and world perception, reflecting their lifestyle, features of everyday life, spiritual and material culture. Geographical names are one of the archaic and stable vocabulary layers, which contain not only information about the geographical realities of the studied dialects habitat, but also historical, linguistic, social and mental people’s characteristics. That is why the scientific value of such research is constantly growing. The sources of the study are the author's recordings of speech (over 38 hours), made in field conditions and by questionnaire according to the specially designed questionnaire during 2014-2018 in 16 base settlements of four districts in the Left-bank Cherkasy region.
