Essay

Actuality of work is determined by the need to study the processes of activation of the architectural and historical environment (AHE) by means of contemporary art on the example of public art objects in order to simultaneously maintain historical memory and increase emotional and aesthetic content. Object: architectural and historical environment; subject: activation of the architectural and historical environment by means of public art. Objective: to develop recommendations for activating the architectural and historical environment by means of including public art objects. Methods: systematic approach. Novelty: a conceptual model is proposed аnd developed recommendations for activating the architectural and historical environment at the meso- and macro-scale levels by means of including public art objects. Results: the main prerequisites for the activation of the architectural and historical environment are revealed; the definition of "public art" is formulated and its classification is supplemented; significant experience of activating the historical environment of the cities of Ukraine, America and Europe by means of public art is systematized; a conceptual model was developed as an aggregate principled strategy for activating AHE by means of public art; strategies of interaction of multi-vector quantitative and qualitative spatial (micro- and macro-) artistic characteristics are formulated; the basic principles of AHE activation based on the inclusion of public art objects are specified; methods of activation and modeling of the atmosphere of the architectural and historical environment due to the invasion of contemporary art objects are determined Practical significance: theoretical basis for further methodological developments for application in project activities.
