Essay

Object - morphogenesis of chernozem soils of single-forest terraces of rivers of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. The aim is to establish the influence of soil formation factors on the genesis and morphogenetic features of chernozem soils of single-forest terraces of rivers of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine and to improve their complex diagnostics by morphological properties of the profile and calculated quantitative parameters. Methods - field, comparative-geographical, mathematical-statistical, cartographic. Theoretical results - the theoretical substantiation and new approaches to the decision of questions of genesis and diagnostics of chernozem soils of single-forest terraces of the rivers of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine by complex application of morphological criteria and quantitative methods of parameterization of soil properties are resulted. The sequential nature of soil formation in the direction from the pine to the two - forest terrace of the rivers of the Left Bank Forest - Steppe of Ukraine depending on the influence of ecological conditions, which is reflected in the morphology of the soil profile, is substantiated. An algorithm for complex genetic diagnostics of chernozem soils of single-forest terraces according to the parameters of humus profile depth and coefficients of relative humus accumulation, profile humus accumulation and organ profile profile regression has been developed. Practical results - the obtained data can be used to clarify the area and spatial location of soils on single-forest terraces, improve their nomenclature list and agricultural grouping, create soil-cartographic materials with more information. The results were used to improve the methodology of repeated large-scale survey of the soil cover of Ukraine on a new theoretical basis. Novelty - the polygenetic character of chernozem soils of single-forest terraces, selected on the existing maps as typical chernozems, is substantiated; the presence of semi-hydromorphic analogues of podzolic soils - meadow-chernozem podzolic soils on single-forest terraces was parametrically argued and a significant distribution of podzolic chernozems on single-forest terraces was established; an algorithm for complex diagnostics of automorphic and semi-hydromorphic soils of single-forest terraces using morphological and relative quantitative criteria has been developed. Acquired further development: substantiation of the sequence of soil formation on single-forest terraces as a consistent change of soil types; theory of formation of properties of semi-hydromorphic and hydromorphic chernozem soils depending on the level of groundwater. Soil diagnostics of single-forest terraces has been improved. Degree of implementation - introduced into the educational process of Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin in teaching the discipline "Soil Science and Biogeography". Branch - environmental protection, soil science.
