Essay

The EU's common immigration policy and the general asylum system have implemented concepts such as "refugee" and "asylum seeker" in the directives and national laws of the member states. The United Kingdom has been actively involved in initiatives to develop a common EU migration policy, especially with regard to the protection of external borders. Britain has been quite reticent about many EU initiatives, developing its own legislation to improve asylum policies. The United Kingdom has opposed a number of EU initiatives to establish a common asylum system. The United Kingdom initiated the creation of new centers for housing and relocation of refugees. In addition, the United Kingdom sought to return and reintegrate people into their countries of previous residence. At the same time, Britain initiated a reform of the international system of political asylum, which consisted of organizing immigration centers in the buffer zone for those wishing to enter the EU.
