Essay

The object of study is the phenomenon of national identity in the political process, in the system of discursive practices and social relations. The aim of the study is to systematize the conceptual versions of national identity in Israel and the peculiarities of their implementation in the political process. Methods - descriptive and prognostic analysis, methods of multifactorial and semantic analysis. Scientific novelty - the development of conceptual and theoretical approaches to the problem of identity in the social and political sciences is determined. The evolution of ideas about the nation, nationalism and national identity in the social and political sciences is characterized. The expediency of using "identity" as a category of social analysis is substantiated. The existing classifications of nations, nationalism and national identity are compared and their normative and analytical potential is established. The main approaches to the study of nation, nationalism and national identity are clarified and the expediency of using the discursive-cognitive approach in our study is substantiated. The specifics of the study of national identity in Israel have been established. The national and ethno-confessional dimension of the "melting crucible" in Israel has been determined. The national and ethno-confessional dimension of "multiculturalism" in Israel is described. The role and place of language in the concepts of national identity in Israel are established. The nature of the Arabic-speaking community of Israel and prospects for its further development are clarified. Assessment of the linguistic identity of the community of immigrants from post-Soviet countries and prospects for its development in Israel. The results - can be used as a scientific and practical basis for developing programs and concepts of socio-cultural interaction, as well as to establish mechanisms for coordinating the activities of government in the field of "national" policy, in the educational process, in preparing courses in political science, sociology, culturology, public management, sociolinguistics, Judaism, etc.
