Samoilenko Y. Principles and methods of rehabilitation of riverine urban areas (on the example of Dnipro)

The purpose of the study is to determine the features of the formation of the river space of a large river, the development of basic principles and techniques for rehabilitation of river areas, strategies for regeneration of individual areas along the water area, to form a recreational framework. Within the limits of the formulated tasks in scientific work problematic aspects concerning the organization of the river city space are revealed; the history of development and functional saturation of riverside urban spaces is generalized; the natural-recreational potential and the current state of landscape-urbanized riparian territories are analyzed. The world experience of architectural and planning reconstruction of river areas is analyzed and the existing directions of rehabilitation of the urban environment along the water area, factors of their formation, organization and conditions of ecological and town-planning optimization in the context of modern programs of sustainable development are revealed. Existing methodological approaches to the renovation of river areas of the city are systematized and supplemented with methodological proposals for the introduction of environmentally sustainable recreational elements in the structure of the river space, to form an integral continuous recreational corridor along the water area. The principles of planning organization and rehabilitation of riparian areas are formulated.
