Vakulenko I. Computer-based management system for independent work of students of pedagogical universities in the process of teaching computer science

The dissertation research summarizes the main approaches to defining such concepts as “students’ independent work” and “management of students’ independent work”. It also clarifies the content of the basic concepts of the research and defines the functions of managing students’ independent work and the functions’ maintenance (based on use of the modern ICT) as well as the main advantages of ICT use for management of students’ independent work. Besides, the research develops and scientifically substantiates the model of computer-based management system for students’ independent work, as well as some of its components in the process of teaching computer science in pedagogical universities (objective and content of independent work; the performed selection of computer-based teaching tools (i.e., management tools), including specialized software. The use of such tools provides all stages of managing students’ independent work: planning, motivation, organization, control, and regulation). The findings of the pedagogical experiment are presented. They confirm the effectiveness of the proposed computer-based management system for independent work of students of pedagogical universities in the process of teaching computer science.
