This candidate thesis is devoted to the research of dialectical vocabulary. In the scientific paper, the names of traditional kinds of transport and communications in the Ukrainian dialects of Transcarpathia are firstly comprehensively analyzed. Theoretical bases of system studying dialect vocabulary and the history of research of thematic group of transport and communications are described. The material was self-recorded dialect speech on a specially created program questionnaire in 80 settlements of the Transcarpathian region. The dialect names on lexical-semantic, etymological, word-forming and areal section are analyzed. The main ways of replenishing this thematic group are determined: word formation, borrowing, semantic transformations. The processes related to development of the thematic group of transport and communications are characterized. The research is supplemented by information about respondents, linguistic maps, samples of oral speech and an index of the use of names in the Ukrainian dialects of Transcarpathia. A comprehensive analysis of vocabulary confirms the importance of regional research for replenishment of dialect vocabulary as the method of Ukrainian literary language development.
