The Dissertation is devoted to attitudes toward appropriate gender role behavior, HIV/AIDS cognitive representations, AIDS risk perception, relationship between locus of control and sex risk-taking behavior study. Reciprocal misunderstanding was revealed in the attitudes and mutual expectations among partners. Gender based differences in AIDS-related knowledge level and cog-nitive representations structure were found. Ss tended to have optimistic beliefs toward AIDS. In male Ss internal and in female Ss external locus of control associated with lower risk behavior index.
