А theory of social conflict and interrelations between a conflict and a consensus as social phenomena are reviewed based upon materials of historio-sociological thought. Ist being demonstrated that a consensus does not only stay in contradiction to a conflict, but represents a necessary element of conflict structure (inner consensus, consensus of procedure, and consensus of resolution), as well as tool of conflict management, localization, and resolution. Based upon sociological research data the particular sociopolitical conflict situation in Ukraine and consensus seeking efforts are analyzed.
