Essay

The problem of ground pressure redistribution calculation during contiguous coal seams extraction has been solved. Experimental measurements in-situ and physical modeling on plaster-sand models have been employed in the research. Multiple undermining of destressed zone causes ground pressure to increase. Finite element method procedure has been developed to simulate ground pressure redistribution. Thr model takes into account the irreversible processes which occur during strata caving. The model is used to choose an optimal layuot of panel during extraction of contiguous coal seams.
