Osadchyj V. Productivity of various constructions apple orchard in the Southern part of Central Forest-Steppe of Ukraine

The objects of the research: intensive apple tree plantations of cv. Idared and Melrose on clonal rootstocks M9, M26, MM106 with various planting density on a unit of area (from 833 to 1666 trees per hectare). The aim of the reserch: to work out optimum constructions of intensive apple tree plantations with high tree density and to determine the best terms and ways of tree pruning of vigorous cultivars. Methods: field, laboratory, statistic. Theoretical and practical results: the estimation of winter hardiness of the trees with various variety rootstock combination is given; peculiar features of the growth and fruit bearing of apple trees in the plantations with various constructions are studied; the nature of light regime in the tree crown with various levels of planting density; the effect of various terms and ways of pruning on the intensity of growth process and tree productivity as well as apple quality in 15-17-year old plantations; economic efficiency of the worked out farm practices are calcul ated. Novelty of the newly-introduced: under conditions of the Central Forest-Steppe of Ukraine it is done for the first time; growth and fruit bearing processes of apple trees in the 15-17-year old plantations with various constructions are studied; optimum terms and ways of tree pruning of a vigorous cultivar in an intensive orchard are determined. Extent of the introduction: the data of the studies are introduced on the farms Cherkasy region. Efficiency: it increases the productivity of intensive apple tree plantations on clonal rootctocks.
