The thesis contains semantico-stylistic analysis of the chronologically marked (archaic) word registered in the historical novels of the 2d half of the 20th century. Changes in the semantic structure of the chronologically marked word under analysis have been investigated. Semantic ties inside thematic groups have been established and peculiarities and directions of the evolutionary processes in the semantics of the archaic lexems have been marked out. Main semantic groups of archaisms and historisms have been emphasized. Authentity of correlation of words under analysis and the period have been investigated. Lexems - archaisms were discovered. Contextual peculiarities of lexical meaning of historisms and archaisms have been revealed.
