3.Potato stem nematode. The prevalence, harmfulness and biological features of stem nematode have been studied. Methods generally ac-cepted in nematology were used.. The study of stem nematode biology made it possible to substantiate measures aimed at restricting nematode population in Ukrainian Polissya. Some intermediate factors of recog-nized cultivars resistance to stem nematode ( content of reducing sugars and polyphenoloxidase activity) have been determined for the first time. Eight potato cultivars resistant to stem nematode heve been revealed and recommended to selection institutions of Ukraine to be used as the initial material. The results of the studies can be used in the educational process at establishment of higher learning, at selection institutions and agricultural enterprises of different patterns of ownership.
