The object of the work is the story "Yriy", the novels "Vovkulaka", "Evil Soul. With Life", "Earth's Leaves". Aesthetic and functional peculiarities of mythological and folk-lore trends are being analysed in his works. Scientific novelty of the dissertation: for the first time Drozd's works have been analysed from the point of view of mythological poetics; the author reveals the nature and author's conception image-bearing speculiarities of a myth in the fiction text. The results of this paper can be applied in the system of philological education of secondary and higher levels.
