Essay

It was established the key component of hernia pathogenesis. The preoperational preparation for patients with ventral hernias of great and giant sizes was im-proved, which resulted in a decline in postoperative mortality down to 1.1%. New methods of auto- and alloplastic operations were developed as well as a new method for prevention of hernia recurrences was proposed, making use of the short-wave therapy over the postoperative wound area, which reduced an overall re-currence rate down to 2.7%.
