Essay

The thesis is devoted to the proof of the participation of photoperiodic mechanisms in the regulation of rats' instant adaptation to acute hypobaric hypoxia as well as the determination of the role of the pineal body in these mechanisms. It has been established that an increase of the photophase elevated the sensitivity to hypoxia and enhanced the reactivity of stress-realizing systems; while the prolongation of the scotophase increased resistance to hypoxia and improved the lipid antioxidant defence, although it deteriorated protein defence.
