Borys Y. Chronic Infectious Inflammatory Diseases of Sex Organs in Males (Immunopathogenesis, Diagnosis, Treatment).

The dissertation on competition of scientific degree of the doctor of medical sciences on the speciality 14.01.06. - Urology. - Institute of Urology and Nephrology of AMS of Ukraine, Kiev, 2000. The dissertation is devoted to the questions of examination of immunopathogenesis, i.e. changes in the cellular and humoral immunity, non-specific factors of immunity, including the interferon status, in the chronic infectious inflammatory processes of sex organs in males in presence of the Chlamydial-bacterial, Herpetic-bacterial, and Trichomatous-bacterial infection. During the comparative statistical analysis of immunopathological changes in cases of the chronic infectious prostatitis new information was received concerning the pathogenesis of immune changes depending on the type of infection. It was established that changes of the certain immune homeostasis parameters depend on the influence of the infectious factor whereas other parameters of the functional status of immune system depend little on the type of infection and reflect the influence of chronic inflammatory process in the prostatic gland. New protocols of the chronic prostatitis treatment in presence of the Chlamydial-bacterial, Herpetic-bacterial and Trichomatous-bacterial infections are offered using immunotropic together with antibacterial and antiviral drugs, as well as new methods of the local treatment.
