Essay

The thesis suggests theoretical and experimental justification of outburst control techniques using: high pressure water jets to disintegrate rock/coal strata; stress redistribution resulting from advanced rock mining ahead of the during development operations; safe distance requirements for remote control.Outburst control parameters have been optimized for the techniques using high-pressure jets with abrasives to make destressing slots in coal and cavities in adjacent rock.Development mining has been improved to involve two stages: small diameter rock heading advanced overmining; further widening of the rock heading.Outburst hazard can be avoided thanks to properly designed protective rock layer between the coal seam and the rock heading, and constant advance rate of the heading with reference to the designed face.Safe distances for remote control during development operations in outburst inclined and steep seams have been determined considering furthest flying-off when seam is being mined.
