Essay

The dissertation deals with phychological aspects of self-concept development regarding gender identity and with the influence of various socialization processes on the gender and psychosexual development of individuals. Based on the theory of genetic psychology, the dissertation addresses the process of gender role adoption and differentiation by children, the interplay of cultural, gender, and sexual directives in the self-concept development, and the influence of gender stereotypes on the development of gender-typified behavior. The dissertation discusses social-psychological factors influencing the adoption of normal and inverted gender identity by individuals, their orientation at traditional or egalitarian division of family and social roles. The dissertation discusses theoretical and practical notions of the integration of sexual sphere into the value system of individuals. Additionally, it addresses the role of gender education in the varibility of sexual behaviour and in the abitity of children and youth to define tremselves regarding sexual and reproductive health. The author proposes the conceptual model of practical psychological aid children and students directed toward solving sexual problems and prevention of sexual abuse.l
