Essay

The object of the study is modern Anglo-American scientific discourse. The aim of the study is in-depth investigation of functional-communicative category of etiquettization expressed through the interplay of textual and interpersonal elements that may have culture-specific flavor. The methods employed include discourse analysis, presuppositions analysis, oppositions method, contrasting, dictionary definitions analysis, informants interviewing, and statistical analysis methods. The novel concept of etiquettization as a specific functional-communicative category is elaborated. Etiquettization means include verbal markers as well as non-verbal visual rhetoric elements. Outcome: ESP textbook for graduate students.Application: English instruction, translation, lexicography.
