Object: grammatical description of the Ukrainian language in the first half of the 19th century. Goal: The designing of methodological model of codification and its application for reconstruction of the theory and practice of codification in grammar books of the first half of the 19th century. Methods used: Description, comparison, juxtaposition, area material study. Results: Interpretative model of the grammatical codification notion and its essential characteristics on the basis of grammar books of the first half of the 19th century. Application: The history of the Ukrainian literary language, history and theory of grammar and history of Ukrainian linguistics.
