Object of the research: epidemic process of parotitis infection, population anti-parotitis immunity. Purpose of the research: to establish the regularities of epidemic process of parotitis infection in Ukraine and to work out the ways of improvement of epidemiological surveillance and vaccine prophylaxis of this infection. Methods of the research: To achieve the purpose of the work, epidemiological, serological, clinical and statistical methods were used. Theoretical and practical results: The characteristics of paro-titis epidemic process in Ukraine for the whole period of this disease registration were determined. The characteristics of the dynamics and manifestations of epidemic process of parotitis infection in Ukraine before vaccination and under vaccine prophylaxis were compared. The choice of vaccines with low reactogenity providing high immunological and epidemiological efficacy of parotitis immunoprophylaxis in Ukraine was sub-stantiated. The findings of the research of population anti-parotitis immunity were used to make changes in Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations. The efficacy of the existing system of epidemiological surveillance of parotitis infection was evaluated, a new modern scheme of epidemiological surveillance of epidemic parotitis was worked out and scientifically substantiated. The ways for optimization of epidemiological surveillance of parotitis infection immune prophylaxis, including the use of new computer technologies, were determined. Novelty: For the first time comparative characteristics of qualitative and quantitative manifestations of parotitis epidemic process in pre-vaccination period and under vaccine prevention were made. For the first time, the differences in the level of population anti-parotitis immunity in different age groups were established. Immunogenity, reactogenity and epidemiological efficacy of all parotitis vaccines which are used in Ukraine were evaluated. The changes in vaccine prevention of parotitis were scientifically substantiated. For the first time, the efficacy of the existing system of epidemiological surveillance of parotitis infection at organism and population level were evaluated, a new modern scheme of epidemiological surveillance of epi-demic parotitis was worked out and substantiated. For the first time computer programs for monitoring immune prophylaxis were worked out. Degree of introduction: The results of the research were introduced into the work of 8 regional sanitary epidemiological stations. The obtained data are used in the teaching process of 4 higher medical schools of Ukraine. Sphere of application: Medicine, epidemiology.
