.Object of investigation - processes that define power efficiency, ecological compatibility and reliability of lamps' functioning. Objective - increase of lighting efficiency, ecological compatibility and reliability of light sources. Methods of investigation - approved electric, photometric, spectral, thermometric, masspectrometric and mechanical methods of measuring, methods of mathematical statistics, physical and mathematical modeling. Have been developed - complex of scientifically - technical decisions on increase of lighting parameters, reliability and ecological safety of energy saving lamps, based on the determined laws of physical and chemical processes in lamps of various designs at stages of manufacture, operation and recycling. Have been applied - series of energy saving discharge lamps of high and low pressure, halogen lamps, technological processes of manufacturing and recycling of lamps. Area of application - development, manufacture, operation and recycling of light sources
