Essay

This thesis presents the holistic analysis of the God-seeking idea evolution in Ukrainian religious-philosophical culture. God-seeking is looked upon as an important way of personality's self-determination and self-realization. The essential interrelation between man's God-seeking and his creative and personal self-fulfillment is manifested. This conclusion was made on the basis the analysis of religious-ethical conceptions, works and life experience of distinguished representatives of Ukrainian religious-philosophical tradition. First of all the seeking for God is for an individual a seeking for himself, his humaneness, true form of his existence. It is an actualization new spiritual and moral dimensions of human being, a mean to clear up profound anthropological and cultural senses of human entity. And in this way God-seeking turns into the process of an individual moral growth, of his spiritual transfiguration. The thesis claims that in Ukrainian philosophy the imperative of personal self-realization, that demands from an individual the constant entity transcendence and spiritual growth, is viewed as the ability to transform the universe of the divine being into the inner world of a personality on the ethical basis. Being-with-God becomes for a man the source of spirituality, the important form of ontological self-determination, the system of orienting points in the out world and in his own entity, the points which become especially significant for a modern individual, who seeks such ways to God, that correspond to his (an individual's) spiritual needs, the amplitude of his personal experience. The key words: God-seeking, self-creativity, self-fulfillment, self-actualization, holiness, deification, "the inner man", the heart, the Absolute, holism.
