Essay

Тhe dissertation has been focused on study of intellectul-mnestic activity and personality at physiological aging, in atherosclerotic and hypertensive discirculatory encephalopaties (DE), early stages of Parkinson's (PD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD), and search for the ways of correction of the detected disorders. Investigation methods: clinical, neurological, experimental-psychological investigations (WAIS, cognitive styles, MMSE, learning activity, memory 10 words and 8 figures, psychoemotional test, MMPI) EEG, REG, cerebral blood flow by clearance of 133Хе, MRI. Theoretical and practical results, novelty of the investigation: Specific changes have been found in the percentage distribution of the cognitive capabilities in different age groups of human individuals beyond 60 years of age, such as an increased proportion of older individuals with mild cognitive impairments and dementia against the background of substantially reduced share of the individuals with an unchanged cognitive provision rateand practically steady percentage of the individuals with an age-associated memory decline. The peculiarities of interrelationships between different indices of the cognitive activity and brain electrogenesis in aging were established. Early signs of pathological changes in the cognitive functions and personality characteristics as well as their differences from the changes seen during physiological aging have been detected. Early detection of cognitive function impairments allows the timely application of a pathogenetic therapy .Studied have been efficacies of the medications improving cerebral hemodynamics and neurometabolism (vinpocetinum and nicergoline) in the patients with DE and of the inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase: amiridinum in the patients with DE and donepesil hydrochloride in the patients with AD. Area of application: public health care, medical education.
