The spectral and temperature dependences of the refractive indices, birefringence and the piezooptic constants of both mechanically free and uniaxially stressed dielectric crystals which possess the PTs and the BSI; the approximation of ni( , T, ), calculations of the parameters of effective ultraviolet and infrared oscillators, as well as the electron polarizability and refraction were studied. The two new single crystals, RbNH4SO4 and RbКSO4, which possess BSI in wide spectral and temperature ranges, are obtained for the first time. Their spatial symmetries, the coordinates of the heavy atoms are determined. It is shown that, in addition to raising symmetry of the second-rank tensor that describes the optical indicatrix, the symmetry of the forth-rank piezooptic constant tensor in the BSI raises. The components for the matrices of absolute piezooptic constants for the crystals are calculated.
