Essay

Regularities of the influence of structural modulation on anisotropy of dielectrics and semiconductors and its manifestations in the temperature and spectral behaviour of optical anisotropy characteristics are studied. Manifestations of the modulation of different types (multi-layer, sinusoidally modulated structures, etc.) in the measured optical anisotropy parameters and the optical transmittance of anisotropic materials are investigated. Spatially nonlocal response of the modulated dielectrics and the wave phase match (or quasi-match) phenomena in the multi-layer structures and semiconductors with the "isotropic point" are analyzed. The characteristics of narrow-band spectral filters on their basis are ascertained. The application range includes optoelectronic material science.
