Essay

The object of investigations is aberrometry of the human eye's optical system. The scientific problem is to involve all eye-aberration data obtained during an aberrometry session and to increase the measurement accuracy. This problem is solved by theoretical generalization of eye aberrometry as well as by developing mathematical apparatus and design principles for a multi-field ray-tracing eye aberometry. A mathematical apparatus is developed for calculating standard ophthalmic parameters characterizing sight lacks. New techniques are proposed for estimating image quality and pseudo-accommodation volume. They are based on incorporating components of a tensor of the second Gaussian moment of a point-spread function at the retina. To increase the accuracy of eye aberrometry, a new technique is developed for spatial positioning (aligning) the aberrometer relatively to a patient's eye. The results of investigations are utilized by NVK "Photoprylad" (Cherkasy, Ukraine) and by Tracey Technologies (Houston, Texas, USA). Obtained results are indented to be used for creating ophthalmic aberrometers as well as designing and manufacturing optical systems.
