Essay

Vestibular ataxia diagnostics improvement in the patients exposed to small doses of ionizing irradiation, being the goal of the thesis. In the presentation the complex evaluation of symptomatics developing after the lesion of the vestibular peripheral receptor and its connections in CNS: sensory, motor, vegetative and lymbic, – is proposed. Among vestibulo-sensory dysfunctions vertigo and dizziness symptoms have been especially separated, because of different nystagmus parameters. Nootropic drugs have appeared to be effective in the dizziness cases and calcium channel blockers in vertigo patients. Monitoring shows that the damage of the peripheral receptor with free radicals has happened in 1986, after that up to 1988 the period of illusive wellbeing followed. Development of the delayed consequences has started with short dizziness episodes, which become exaggerated in 1991. At that time the lesion of the peripheral receptor has been recorded. Sensory desfunction is followed with the signs of cephalgic, vegetative and psycho-emotional syndromes. In 1992 the dysfunctions have been documented in CNS in vestibulo-motor projection and in 1994 the damage of the cortical zone of the analyzer and increase of blood pressure recorded. In 1995-1997 vestibular atactic syndrome incorporates into organic symptomatics and looses its domination in the structure of disease. Nootropic drugs, calcium channel and histaminic blockers have proved to be effective in the therapy of the symptomatics described. The data obtained allow arguing the treatment procedures of the patients with vestibular ataxia.
